A new acquaintance recently asked me if I was a "rule breaker." My answer to her was no, most of the time... unless it is a silly rule. I went on to explain that I do like to challenge the status quo. For the most part, I follow rules but also would consider myself a bit of rebel when need be. What do I mean by rebel? If someone tells me there is only one way to do something, I'm all for finding a better and faster way to do it... or shall we say... my way of doing it!! My daughter gave me a card long ago, which I proudly display on my bulletin board today. See below: 51% Good Girl/ 49% Outlaw. If you change Outlaw to Rebel... you get the picture.
In my humble opinion, I am a big proponent of wearing white year round. According to fashion reporters, it began in the 1930’s with the ultra-rich wearing only white in the summer. Light clothing gave the look of leisure, while dark clothing was mostly for working people. Silly, yes! I am breaking this rule. Are you? How do you feel about wearing white year round?
You may have already seen me wearing all white this spring, or all winter white over the winter. In these pics, I am wearing Chico's with the exception of the shoes, which are the Limited brand, from Belk. Unfortunately, the top sold out quickly but I have linked others on LIKEtoKNOW.it, below. You can find me here for shopping details or below on my Instagram or LTK.it.
So back to the question at hand? Are you a rebel? And how are you rebelling?
Have a great week and as always, thank you for reading the blog. My goal is to share chic, authentic and ageless style; covering fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! I truly really appreciate you!

Meet Connie! A 59-year-old Military brat that has lived and experienced many places growing up. She believes that this life, while not always loved, helped to shape how she lives today. Family, church, and the ability to live an active lifestyle are very important to her, as well as giving back. Connie is fortunate that all 3 of her children and grandson live in Charlotte, close by. Her faith keeps her grounded and an active lifestyle includes being a lifelong runner, including a couple of marathons, and her new functional fitness class, Cross Fit. Connie also loves gardening, quilting, reading, traveling, and her longtime involvement and work with Habitat for Humanity
Connie was a high school math teacher after college and then decided to work in the home full time. As CEO of her home, (family of five) she helped run the family effectively, including all of the extra-curricular activities; church, sports, mission trips, etc. Her family has worked with Habitat for Humanity for approx. 20 years... starting with builds in Charlotte. This work also allowed her children the opportunity to see and experience giving back to others through Habitat. They have all participated on builds out of the country; including El Salvador, Ecuador, Africa, Costa Rica, the Philippines, and the Jimmy Carter build in Thailand. Connie and her husband currently do a weeklong build in El Salvador twice a year. She feels its very rewarding to meet the homeowners; whose lives you helped to change.
Current life and Chico’s: Connie started working as a part-time sales associate 9 years ago when her children left home. She likes fashion and loves helping women feel good about what they are wearing. Chico’s has done several charities over the past couple of years but Connie was thrilled to learn they were partnering with Habitat for Humanity - Women’s Build initiative, which is a build designed specifically for women. Houses built for women by women... but men can help, too. It is all about empowering women by helping them have a safe place to live. Chico’s FAS is trying to raise $ 650,000 for the Women’s Build initiative to work with 77 communities across the United States. Two communities will receive funding to build a house and the other 75 will receive $1000.00 grants towards their Women’s Build program. At the Charlotte South Park store, they are promoting the collaboration by making customers aware of the campaign. Connie took it a step further and made informational signs, brought in some Habitat shirts, tool belts, and hard hats for the mannequins, and educated her fellow associates on the importance of the effort to give fellow females a “hand up in life”. Connie believes that we don’t have to move mountains to help others, but be consistent with what we can do or give, whether it’s time, money, or talents. It all adds up for the greater good of mankind.
I hope you enjoyed meeting Connie... a Mom and Grandmother making a difference for others whether it be a family needing a home or a shopper looking for the latest styles.
As always, thank you for reading and stopping by the blog. My goal is to share authentic ageless style and relevant information as we share this journey together! I so appreciate you, my friends and readers!

Love this month... so sorry to see it go! Wanted to share these awesome Chico's Juliet pants in Brandy Brown... can we say OH SO SLIMMING! Yes, let's do because they are!!!! Second, this white blouse from Chico's is the best... mine is on its second season and looks like it is the first. Let's attribute it to quality! The earrings and cuff are also Chico's... sooo chic! Shoes are from the closet #ftc and are Stuart Weitzman. Sorry that I cannot help with these but ladies. I hold on to everything as I promise it will come back in style at some point... and if it doesn't, buy good quality and wear it anyway. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! Last but not least, I found this clutch at Nordstrom Rack last month and it was a #have2have... Helen Kaminski high quality at a fantastic price. Shop all the looks in the gallery below and similar substitutes.
Stay tuned as I will be featuring many of these same pieces with a top change. SNEAK PEAK below:
Have a fabulous Friday and weekend ahead and as always... thank you for reading!
One last time... do you remember... Ba de ya!!
Hi lovely friends, Hope your week is was great and that your upcoming weekend will be fantastic!! Last weekend was relaxing, this weekend not so much!
I love this quote by Henry Ford but find it is not always easy to do what it suggests, but I do agree with Henry and feel that most successful people can look at other's point of views. Today, everyone including me (or so my son says) has an opinion on everything. We have so much information available to us at our finger tips all day long. We look up long enough to share our thoughts on what we have read or learned to socialize a bit. These opinions range from politics to sports, healthcare, education and the list goes on. Recently I am seeing many articles sharing what women over 50 should and should not wear. In fact, I just read a Harpers Bazaar article which stated that as you get older to keep your animal urges confined to a skirt or a clutch. And that's all fine but in my opinion, if you find something you really like wear it!! Even if it is an all over leopard print shirt dress. With the likes of Iris, Carmen, Diane Keaton and Furstenberg, and many fashion sysmbols, we can and should wear what we want. The key is to be true to yourself and confident about what you like. It's not necessarily about what's in fashion, it's about what you love for you and your style.
Which leads me to this post. First, I chose the location based on the fact that it is a triangular shaped building near downtown Charlotte. I was standing in front of one of the three points.... actually making my point!! This fun leopard print shirt dress is from Chico's. It is sold out on line but available in some stores and is a great price too!! My bag (a gift from Mr. Silver last year) is a Louis Vuitton, Pochette Modis and hard to find this year! Theses black Ivanka Trump pumps are FTC and are a wardrobe staple.
In closing hope you all have a great Friday and weekend! Be confident in what you wear. Nobody else can or will be.
Until next time, thank you for reading!!
Hope your weekend was great! Ours was busy with an Easter Egg hunt for one grand and getting ready for our Texas kids and grands, arriving later this week. The best part is that we will be spending next week, all together; six adults and 4 grands, under the age of 4, in a small beach cottage. Looking forward to lots of belly laughs and time on the beach!! Mr. Silver and I can't wait.
To finish the subject line, the most beautiful thing you can wear is confidence. Today, my look is all about powering through, and in this case, it was Monday. This was photographed before a big business meeting. My goal was to look great and exude confidence! I loved the touch of pink peaking through; blouse from from the closet (FTC) but similar on the gallery. This black and white, tweed jacket is very light weight and is from the closet (FTC). I have linked an Ann Taylor option, very similar, in the gallery. The black pants are Chico's So Slimming, always a favorite and the jewelry, also from Chico's, is on sale. These classic black pumps offer the perfect heel! I also wanted to mention, my favorite pink lipstick, Captive by MAC.
What do you do to get ready for a big event or meeting? I think pink can be powerful...do you?
As always, thanks for reading!
Until next time,
she was powerful, not because she wasn't scared but because she went on strongly, despite the fear. atticus
Hope your weekend was great! We spent another weekend at the beach, spring cleaning, but still managed to have some fun!!
Here we are at Monday again and like my t-shirt says, c'est la vie. I found this cute shirt for spring at Nordstrom Rack. The sweater is from Chico's and was part of last falls collection, but in my opinion, can be worn fall, winter or spring. The olive green pants are from J. Crew and are such a great fit. My black suede bag (can you tell I like fringe) is FTC; Ralph Lauren but check out similar in the gallery. And these great, hoop earrings are from the sale rack at Chico's.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. I will leave you with a quote I fell in love with over the weekend.
"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. --James Keller"
Lift someone up, help another and take the time for even a quick smile in passing.
As always, thanks for reading,
Happy Monday! On the first day of spring and a beautiful day in the Carolinas, I finally found the perfect time to use this wall for a shot on my blog. #gratitudegardenstories by Caroline Simas in Ft. Mill, SC. It is so inspiring!!
Today, I am very grateful for many things: Mr. Silver, our kids, grandchildren, family, friends, furry friends, our faith, and health! I am also grateful for you, my friends and the ability to share this blog!
I decided on a simple outfit in contrast to this beautiful wall. I am wearing a long white Effortless Cotton No Iron shirt by Chico's, simple black leggings, Hollywood Waist by Chico's, a long strand of Carolee pearls, and pumps ftc (from the closet).
I hope you enjoy the wall as much as I do! Here is a link to the time-lapse video of the creation. If you ever find yourself in Ft. Mill, make sure to visit the wall on the side of Crossings on Main. It's a great little shop!
This spring, I hope we can all plant some seeds and spread some love! Lord knows the world needs more of it!
As always, thanks for reading! xo
Happy Monday Friends,
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I sure did... but worked hard at our beach cottage getting it ready for spring. Yesterday, we also attended a St. Patty's day parade and festivities which was a blast! I have never seen so many plaid kilts!
Speaking of plaid... I found this Burberry bag early this year, it was one of the last ones at Nordstrom and it was the deal of the year! It has since sold out everywhere...so sorry but no links! I previously mentioned the River Rose boutique in Texas. While there recently, I found this cute (Burberry Style) plaid shirt for $36.00. Shown with my new favorite black pants from Chico's... the So Slimming Brigitte. I highly recommend them.
Some fashionista's may think that you can't pair plaids! Since my bag only had a bit of plaid, I felt it was a subtle enough to go nicely together. And with as much plaid as I saw yesterday, you can never have enough!
Enjoy your week!!
As always, thanks for reading!! XO
I have truly been off the grid for over a week now... maybe not actually the grid... just the blog! Between travel for work and pleasure and just taking some down time... it's been nice! But I missed you and I'm baaaaaccckk, better than ever. Seriously can't wait for you to see some of my upcoming posts, shot on location in Texas. So stay tuned!
Even though it has been a relatively warm winter, I am done with the cold. So here I am, walking into the weekend and saying goodbye to winter!
I am wearing a Vineyard Vines, navy and white striped cotton scarf, a Talbot's puffer vest in navy, purchased recently at the Red Hanger sale, Chico's jeans from last season, my faithful Cognac Frye boots and for a pop of color, kelly green leather gloves. Yes, if you live in the North, you may borrow them for St. Patty's day. I hopefully won't need them!
Ready for my ode
here it goes
old man winter
you feel like a splinter
no more sweaters or coats for that matter
it's time for shorts, sandals too
I want bright colors... pinks, yellows and blues
Bring on spring, sooner than later
goodbye winter, see you later alligator!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and I hope wherever you are it is a beautiful weekend.
As always, thank you for reading.
Love must be as much a light, as it is a flame.

First and foremost, Happy Valentines Day! I hope today brings you much happiness, joy, and love!
As I celebrate today with Mr. Silver and our love of over 40 years... I remind myself that nothing worth having comes easy. As high school sweethearts, we grew up together. Through highs and lows, great times and sad times we never let our love grow apart! Love is a lifetime of compromise, commitment, and trust!
This post features three different Valentines outfits that are my style! The first is a simple Kensie white blouse, Baublebar earrings, Red Theory pants (FTC) a Michael Kors Leather Jacket (FTC) and Circa Joan and David T-strap shoes (also FTC).
Next is a red Karen Kane dress that is so simple and lovely, it will be a wardrobe staple for years to come, and it even has pockets! The Pour La Victoire black pumps were a find at Belk and make me feel so tall!! My bracelet is vintage Kendra Scott and the clutch is Sondra Roberts from Nordstrom, now on sale.
Last but not least, is a Karen Kane cropped top in red lace with bell sleeves, black wide leg pants from Chico's, Kendra Scott earrings and black pumps (FTC)
As always, thank you so much for reading and being a part of my journey!!
Hope you had a great weekend and that if you are a "football person"... your NFL team won and is moving on! It was a warm weekend here compared to the teens the week before...so I decided the post should fit accordingly. The feature is this wonderful gift, of a leopard scarf! You will see this scarf in the future since it's a classic... Sole Society from Nordstrom... not on sale...but a great price! The shirt is from Cloth and Stone from Belk. I have worn this top, with various outfits already and can't wait to wear it this spring, with white jeans. The pants are Oh So Slimming, (literally) from Chico's! An absolutely great deal and they offer a great fit!! I love to pair classics with casuals... and a little bit of leopard gives it the edge! The sales are great right now... don't miss out!!
Hope you have a great week!
Be your awesome self!! Thanks for reading,
Hope your week has been great and that your holiday season is starting out fun! Getting ready this week for one of many upcoming holiday parties and decided to put together a few different holiday outfits for you. Two are dressy and a couple more casual and fun; Holly Red, LBD, Casual Plaid and Naughty! Please check the gallery for all the details.
In my opinion, the most important point in planning an outfit for any occasion is to make sure that you are comfortable and feel great about what you are wearing! That way you can relax, enjoy family and friends and feel confident. Then, as the night unfolds and you feel like dancing on the table, (if your host does not mind) go for it! And have a holly jolly great time!!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Ours was quiet this year...but much needed as we have been on the go all fall and are now ready for the busy holiday season.
When you live in the South, you understand the need to layer when you dress. The day can start around 30 degrees and end up around 75. For this reason, I love merino sweaters. They are lighter (can be layered) and breath. I found this pretty Madewell Merino wool sweater in Cabernet, on sale for $39.95. It comes in 4 additional colors and is a great wardrobe staple. I paired this with Chico's So Slimming jeans... so comfortable (if you ate too much turkey.)
I love boots but do not to wear them when it's warm. So every fall when I add staples to my wardrobe, there is usually a pair or two of new flats. This year one of my adds were these Michael Kors patent leather flats. I have worn them with numerous outfits as they go with everything, are super comfy and are great quality. These are also in the outfit plans, when I host a few holiday parties at home!
Are you ready for the holiday hustle? Yikes! Know you are not alone for the panic to set in!! My advice is a nice cabernet and chill... by the water, the fire or wherever you are happiest! Maybe even surfing the web, for those cyber Monday bargains!
As always, thanks for reading,
Poncho's are FUN! They are so versatile and can be worn so many ways; date night, business, casual...you name it! This one was such a find and is by SundaysNYC. It is made of the softest material! LOVE. I bought it at a local boutique Luxe Angel Boutique but they quickly sold out! I can sure see why...I would have bought one in every color!! Underneath, I wore my white Tees by Tina. If you have not tried this brand...DO! It will become a fave and they wash and wear so well!
The boots are a staple. When I was doing cross country travel...these were what I wore almost every trip...so a bit worn in but there is nothing like a good cowgirl boot to mold to your foot! My bag is a Phillip Lim...I found this at Nordstrom Rack but I found the original on his website. You will weep, if I told you the price I paid...so I will keep this a secret, unless you really want to know...email me. Last but not least, Kendra Scott earnings in grey with gold accents. Kendra Scott can dress up any outfit and pull it together.
As always, thanks for reading~
Until next time,
