Ageless Active: Valentine's Day at a Certain Age

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. And it can also be remembered as the Feast of Saint Valentine, in memory of Saint Valentine of Rome that died on February 14th. The date became associated with romantic love in the 14th and 15th centuries, and is carried on today throughout the world.

My birthday is very close to this day of love and sometimes overshadows Valentine’s. However, we always try to do something for each other that is fun and/or meaningful. And at this point in our lives we don’t need anything, so it makes finding a gift or doing something for each other, a bit trickier.

I love to receive and give a nice gift (it’s one of my love languages), but there are so many thoughtful ways to share Valentine’s Day with the ones you love. I put together a few ideas to share and some unique simple gifts, too!

Reading the Love Language Book as a Couple (a great way to understand more about your partner and you can take a quiz here):

If your loved one is always cold, a hand held hand warmer is perfect (Mr. Silver gave me one last year and I use it every single day):

A Couples Photo Shoot and then make a Photo Book:

Breakfast in Bed or make a Special Dinner Together (We recently made both of these and they were delicious. Or order in from an app so you don’t have to do a thing):

Buy a New Sheet Set (we love our Thomas Lee Sheets):

Plant a Tree, Flowering Bush or a Succulent (Mr. Silver and I do this and my favorite yet is my Japanese Maple):

Celebrate a Favorite Bottle of Wine Together (we use the Vivino App to research our favorite Italian wines) or Champagne:

Chocolate Truffles (because in my opinion a holiday is not special without chocolate):

Take a Class Together (Cooking, Wine, Mixology, Glass Blowing, Pottery, etc.)

Get outdoors together and take a walk or hike (It’s free):

And if you are doing something for yourself, because you deserve it, I always suggest a Lafco Candle or diffuser (Champagne is my favorite):

I hope you enjoy these fun ideas and I look forward to hearing your ideas, too!
