Today, Feb 19th, is a special day in the blogging world. It marks the launch of the first annual Fierce 50 Campaign bringing together 50 female bloggers over the age of 50 in a celebration of mid-life on the 50th day of the year! While I don't usually talk about age on my blog, I am honored to be selected as a member of the group and this campaign.
Inspired at the Edge by a True Gem
I’m honored and humbled to introduce to you my fellow Fashion Blogger Elaine Davis @squarepearls on IG and creator of Square Pearls. I am happy to say that I now call Elaine my friend and fellow ‘Fierce Sister’. Elaine lives and works in New York City, one of the fashion capitals of the world.
Let me just tell you…. you will NEVER find Elaine Davis in the women’s coordinate department and if you do… she will be there challenging other women in mid-life that they can do better! Elaine, with her youthful glow and “true southern charm” (yes, this girlfriend is a true Southerner at heart) knows how to have fun, be authentic, be in control and embrace life in her 50’s. She is the mother of two grown adults and she has an extreme love of fashion. From the first time we spoke, I felt that Elaine had a sense of calmness about her, knew that family was very important and had a deep sense of caring for others.
One can equate a pearl to a life, as they are one of nature’s great miracles. A living organism produces a pearl and is considered the world’s finest and most original gem. A pearl, just like a life has to survive the many perils over their growth period before harvesting. In the case of Elaine she too has experienced perils; ups and downs, the loss of parents, siblings and a divorce. Life’s many challenges present obstacles but like the classic pearl, Elaine has chosen optimism, hope, perseverance, determination and joy as she designed her balanced life. The end result is when everything has gone well, a beauty is revealed — in the case of Elaine, the result is a classic, timeless and edgy square pearl!
We all need a tribe for connection, inspiration, and growth as we continue to learn from other in this second phase of our lives. I want this fierce woman as my friend, ally and confidante and you will too!
Elaine and I were lucky enough to meet face to face this weekend when she traveled to South Carolina. It was a blast to meet her! Cheers to my Fierce Friend, Elaine. Be sure to check out her blog Square Pearls.
