Supporting Silvers Feature: Leigh Ann Newman

After My Transition

After My Transition

Have you ever wondered who you really are? Under all the make up and hair coloring and designer clothes; wondered what really makes you, well, you?  I found myself wondering that a lot over the last few years. As a 48 year old mom, wife, co-owner of a 600 acre grain/Morgan horse farm and senior program manager at an international government consulting firm, I have had many opportunities to explore who I am as a person, professionally as well as personally.

Before My Transition

Before My Transition

For me, it is a continuous process that I think requires courage to peel back the layers of self-doubt and uncertainty that can creep into my psyche and really look at what’s underneath from time to time. Whenever I have done this in the past, it has revealed new opportunities for peace and personal growth.

This desire I had for self-discovery manifested itself strongly for me in November 2018 when I made what some may call a “bold decision” to stop coloring my hair after 20 years. With this adventurous mindset, I have found the #grayhairjourney more liberating and less scary than you might think. In fact, looking back now, 17 months later, I’m so glad I made the decision to join the silver hair movement. It’s been fun to see what my hair really looks like in its nature state, but more importantly, I feel free to just be me.  It brings me joy every day to look in the mirror and see my gray hair because it has empowered me to be strong, feel ageless and even more beautiful. I hope by sharing my journey I can inspire others to feel the same joy and freedom.

I am thrilled to feature this successful business woman. You can follow Leigh Ann on Instagram @nansdailydose of life or on Facebook here.
