My feet are not something that bothers me… at least at this point in my life. However, I know that many of my readers face this dilemma as I have heard from you. I have turned down a few shoe partnerships because I did not like the style of the shoes. When it comes to shoes… it’s always been style over comfort for me. And I know that’s easy for me to say… when my feet don’t hurt. But then I tried on the Jambu Rimini Leather Bootie with memory foam foot beds and a light bulb went off. Yes! You can have a stylish bootie that also offers comfort. You can check out all their new arrivals here and boots and booties here.
I recently wore this brand new pair of booties on an all day shopping trip and felt like I was wearing my favorite slippers. I truly felt like I was walking on air.
I have three stylish friends that are all Brand Ambassadors for Jambu so was intrigued about the brand and the comfort the shoes offer. Jodie, Dawn and Jess are all three women I admire and who also inspire many other women. I knew they must have been on to something!
I’m happy to say that Jambu has offered to provide you, my readers a discount code: SILVER18 for 15% off any jambu.com purchase, now through 10/31.
Thank you to Jambu for sponsoring this post. If you are looking for comfortable booties for women and decide to check them out and purchase a pair, I hope you find them as comfortable as I have. My goal is to share chic ageless style and endless fun, from a sincerely silver perspective. Including fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! Thank you for reading my blog!
A few months back, I had the opportunity to wear three Teri Jon dresses for an article and photo shoot featuring several Mother of the Bride/Groom dresses for Paul Simon Women in Charlotte by yours truly and @scoopcharlotte. I sincerely did not know what I was in for until I put the first dress on and my heart skipped a beat when I looked in the mirror. The quality, the designs and the fabrics make these dresses very special and a brand that women have trusted with all of life’s special occasions for over 35 years.
Rickie Freeman, the founder, CEO and designer at Teri Jon is also a wife, mother, and grandmother; and believes that all of these roles combined are her inspiration behind the collections. I love the fact that Rickie tries on each and every design ensuring a proper fit for every woman.
After the article above was published, Teri Jon reached out and asked if I would be interested in working with their company. I literally jumped at the chance!
This brings me back to the dress I am featuring today. My very own Teri Jon dress… needless to say… I am thrilled. I paired this dress with simple jewelry and silver pumps by Michael Kors.
I chose this dress because of both the print but also the beautiful design. It reminded me of dresses that my Mom and Grandma’s wore back in the 50’s . Polka dots are timeless and ageless just like the Duke Mansion where these pictures were taken, in the Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte.
The Duke Mansion was built in 1915 has been home and host to leaders of the 20th century. Duke’s most lasting legacies, including Duke University, Duke Energy and the Duke Endowment, took shape at the home. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Mansion is operated as a nonprofit with all proceeds being used to preserve and protect this community treasure.
As you can see this community treasure is a wonderful place to stay, celebrate, meet and relax. If you are planning any of the above or looking for a very special venue in the Charlotte area, you have to include the Duke Mansion… where character and charm reside.
Thank you to Teri Jon for sponsoring this post! I am humbled to have featured the brand and this beautiful dress. I may get a commission if you purchase through LIKEtoKNOW.it. However, the links here take you straight to the Teri Jon website.
In closing, I want to thank you for stopping by the blog and I will leave you with a little reminder. "Life is a Party" and it is what you make it. Make it a great week, lovelies!!
My goal is to share ageless style, and endless fun, from a sincerely silver perspective. Including fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! And as always thank you for reading my blog!
I recently found this long black vest on my way out the door, while shopping recently. I spotted another woman looking at it and waited patiently, till she put it back. The word "statement piece" rang in my head, and I had nothing like it in my closet. Needless to say I was smitten. Best part... it was on the sale rack. Score! I have searched high and low to link this exact one for you as it was the last one and cannot find it. However, don't fret, I have linked others that would offer the same "statement look."
What exactly is a "statement piece"? My definition is a little different than what I found on the web here and here. I feel that a statement piece is an item that makes you stand out. It can be shoes, earrings, a hat etc. just a bit unique and bold. My "statement vest" is a simple black vest. What makes it unique are the large colorful grommets. So fun. I should also mention my Bauble Bar gold bracelet from the Nordstrom Sale and my fun black, leather Apple Watch cuff from Bezels and Bytes. So mod!! Did I really just say "mod"? Haha.
What is your favorite Statement Piece? Would love to hear about it!
Hope your week was great and that you have a wonderful weekend ahead! My goal is to share ageless style, and endless fun, from a sincerely silver perspective. Including fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! Thank you for reading my blog!
When becoming a grandmother almost 4 and 1/2 years ago, like most Grandma's, I was smitten with my first grandson. He was born almost 3 months early and that made him even more precious. At the time, I decided that as a Grandma, I wanted to be as special as my Grandma (Marnie) and my grandma (Nana) were. They were two very different women, one from a small town in Southern Illinois and the other an Italian immigrant from Chicago. Although distinct women, their spirit and love for family and their grandchildren was immense. Marnie, was a spitfire, who kept reinventing herself (a yogi at 80) and Nana, a very successful business woman, providing global travel tours through her business. Both taught me different things... that left life long impressions. Nana; a great work ethic, and my love of cooking and travel and Marnie; to live life to the fullest and to make each little adventure count.
Even though my grands are all under the age of 5, I wanted to instill subtle lessons and reminders that may help them especially in times of self-doubt at any age. "Of course you may." became my mantra to them whenever they ask me a question. Unless of course, they wanted to do something dangerous. "Of course you may," means that yes, they can have that chocolate chip cookie or yes, I will play pirates or dolls, but it also means that they can do anything! And that is what I want them to remember. They can change their mind, they have the right to make decisions (although there are consequences) and that they have the ability to be in control. Much like my Grandma Marnie, I like to get down on the floor, do somersaults, make up stories, and play in the dirt but the love, affection and support she provided, was that I was special and I could do anything I wanted.
So friends we need to remember this phrase as well because we can do anything, or be anything we want at any age; start a blog, start a business, travel, change course, meet new people, try different things, continue to learn... "of course you may, my friend."
Thank you to Birdie James for sponsoring this post. Another woman who decided to change careers, try something new based on what she loves and turned it into a fantastic business. Check out Birdie James here, where they believe in authentic chic. This beautiful outfit is from her boutique. The top is a Birdie James label which I fell in love with... silver metallic dots...yes! The skinny leg, frayed jeans are one of the labels she carries and the handcrafted earrings are by Gloria Jane (also on the island). They offer clothes for every woman. Make sure to check out this boutique online and if you are ever in Hilton Head, stop in!! Birdie wants you to gather, laugh, shop and be you! A friend after my own heart.
I hope you you had a great week and if you recently joined... welcome!! My goal is to share ageless style, and endless fun, from a sincerely silver perspective. Including fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! Thank you for reading my blog!
I was recently asked by a friend what do you miss people asking you about vs when you were younger? I shared my answer immediately. I miss people asking about my goals, personally and professionally. I have always been a goal setter... that's why it's important to me.. And when we are younger, the question seems to come up quite often. What do you want to do? What do you want to be? What's on your bucket list, etc.? At 60, maybe people give up on goals, feel goal setting is not as important or think we don't need goals... but I feel we do.
Today, more than ever before, there is so much I still want to do and be, and look forward to. I feel like I am in the prime of my life, so why not!
When we were younger, it was more difficult to set goals with husbands, kids, work and aging parents. Today we finally have the time to focus on ourselves and we can.
Sixty is the perfect age to re-set or set your goals and it's never too late to achieve life goals. I'd much rather achieve something later in life than to never achieve it!
So what are a few of your goals, my friend? Mine, thanks for asking? I want to write a book, own a Christmas Tree farm with horses, learn Italian and become a sommelier! But don't get me started because my goal list goes on and on!
This question can really get you thinking. I hope you take some time to ponder on your goals and I look forward to your feedback in the comments.
Thank you to Soft Surroundings for sponsoring this post and both great outfits featured on this page. I simply love both looks and the high quality clothing they offer. After a super busy week and feeling badly that I got behind... I wanted to share a look that makes me happy. A tee, jeans and sneakers. As we all know, we cannot be dressed to the max all the time and I love a casual jeans day!
My name is Jan... as you probably know. And my middle name is Ellen... which you may not know. For years, I have received mail and people will mistakenly call me Jane. In fact, Mr. Silver likes to tease and call me Jane, too! I am so used to it... I now love the name Jane. So when I saw this cute tee at J. Crew... I grabbed it! I cannot say I am a "Jane of all trades." but I like to try!! AND then, I saw the pink glitter sneakers and was done! The makings of a casual, jeans day, outfit. I continue looking for pink and white seersucker shorts for the heat of the summer but have not found them yet!! If you spy them...give me a shout.
There is something about glitter on my feet that makes me smile (possibly my inner young self!) Do you wear shoes that have glitter on them? And do they make you happy, too? I kinda feel like dancin. :) I should also mention my madras bucket hat. It is special because it was my Dad's and I always miss him around Father's Day.
I hope you enjoy the look. I have linked my Instagram and LIKEtoKNOW.it below.

Do you remember my favorite black dress? Well if you don't, know that you will see it again soon in reverse! Yes, that's what I said. It can be worn either way... a scoop neck or v-neck! Different looks from one dress and both so figure flattering. I am a fan of the Sympli brand! Therefore, I was thrilled when they reached out to ask if I was interested in being a brand ambassador. Yes, yes, yes!
Sympli realizes that each woman is unique. We all have diverse figures and body types. The fabric used is wash and wear, extremely comfortable so it can be worn every day. They have on-site manufacturing and also use a Home Sewing network: a local community of entrepreneurs who work on their schedule while still caring for their families. I love that! I can go on and on about the brand and the fashion that fits every age, shape, size, and style but suggest you check it out at a local boutique, find yours here or at an online retailer, here. Sympli has quite a following around the world. Have you tried their fashions?
In these pics, I am wearing the Matrix Box Top and Midi Pants in navy, Tahari pumps and Burberry sunglasses. Thank you to Sympli for sponsoring this post.

Last week, Mr. Silver and I took a jaunt over to Charleston for the day while in Hilton Head for a stay-cation. We love Charleston for all the fun shops, great eats, and the southern style charm. The weather was gorgeous, not too hot and a beautiful breeze.
We spent the morning walking around and shopping, and ate lunch at a fun taco place, Mr. Silver knew I would enjoy; Taco Boy. In the afternoon, we had drinks at the Pavilion Bar on the rooftop of the Market Pavilion Hotel which offered great views of the city and the harbor and visited the bar at 5Church; pics below. 5Church is worth a visit in itself, just to see a former church, renovated to a restaurant. Definitely check out the art, the ceiling, and the drinks. We finished the day at Husk, which is a must for a great dinner if you are planning a trip to Charleston. Hint… book reservations way before your visit!!!
That day, I was wearing wide-leg floral pants from H&M (I call them culottes... remember them), a silk sleeveless blouse, open toe booties and a rattan Boho circle bag. It was the perfect “cool” outfit for the day. Follow the link below for shopping details on IG and LIKEtoKNOW.it.

I try not to do trendy. However, these fun Palazzo (pants) jeans feel a bit that way to me. According to Wikipedia (here) and others, Palazzo pants have been around since the 1930's and '40's. In fact, Katharine Hepburn, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich were all huge fans and many women still feel they are avant-garde.
I found these fun pants, with snaps up the side at a trendy boutique in Texas, maybe another reason they feel trendy. But I have to say... I love them. I'm not sure everyone will like them but know that you will see them again with different looks this summer, and on my Instagram account. Speaking of Instagram, please follow me there which links to my blog and a shopping app called LIKEtoKNOW.it, for your smartphone. See the links below. You can shop all of my looks or similar there! My favorite ride at an amusement is still the mind-jangling unpredictability of a Tilt-A-Whirl. As you might recall, it spins its passengers in one direction, then another, sometimes hesitating between forays and sometimes swinging abruptly from one motion to another. This is the perfect analogy of life with a 1, 1 1/2, 3, and 4 year old; three little boys and a baby girl.
Let me start by saying these are all wonderful children, (admittedly, these precious darlings are my grandchildren). The oldest two are well mannered and polite and set a great example for their younger siblings. However, the energy level and the lack of communication skills on top of young emotions can be a ride.
Our Son and DIL in North Carolina went out of the country for 7 days entrusting us with their children. Two days later our Daughter and SIL in Texas did the same. We had a blast! However, I will say it is much different when you are not handing them back at the end of the day or after an overnight. Just like many moons ago, these little's depended on us entirely; diapers, pull-ups, wipings, throw-ups, scraped knees, bruises, meals, baths, drop-offs, hugs, kisses, time-outs (only 2), and bed-time stories. In between, there were many adventures; power wheels, park visits, horseback rides, train rides, strawberry picking, ice cream, soccer, Batman, some TV, snow cones, hot wheels, baby dolls, and forts. The most important thing is that we kept them uber busy and on their own schedules so that Mom nor Dad were missed.
Would we do it again? Absolutely, it was a fun ride. We may just ask for a week in between... next time!
Before leaving Texas, we did take a couple of photos about town and in front of a new mural in New Braunfels. And what a beautiful mural it is... (on the Comal Flower Shop wall) the El Legado De Nuestra Jornada –The Legacy of Our Journey. This public mural, commissioned by The Historic Outdoor Art Museum in New Braunfels, is a timeline of Hispanic heritage dating from the 1680’s to 1845. Designed by MOSAIC Artist-in-Residence Alex Rubio, the 12 ft. by 60 ft. mural was completed by lead MOSAIC Student Artists Laura Gonzalez, Rachel Kamata, Zöe Reyes, and Elizabeth Samuel. In fact, we met one of the artists the day we were there.
Standing in front of the beautiful wall, I am wearing a white and gold Lilly Pulitzer silk shirt (from the clost, white frayed jeans, gold Kate Spade sandals, gold leaf earrings and borrowed bracelets from my daughter to match. In fact, I loved the bracelets so much, I hinted that they would make a nice Mother's day gift for this Nannie (Grandma). You can message Laureen @ McCotti designs here for details. All other details or similar items are in the gallery below!
Pop (Mr. Silver) and I are still not completely rested but are getting there. We loved our experience with our sweet grands and can't wait to see what is around the next spin and the adventure it brings.
Have a great rest of the week and as always, thank you for reading the blog. My goal is to share chic, authentic and ageless style; covering fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! I really appreciate you!
As a result of a recent post I did for Scoop Charlotte, I was provided the opportunity to work with Paul Simon Women, a boutique in Charlotte. I'm sorry to say that I had not been to this boutique before... but will not be a stranger again! What led me to this work with Paul Simon in the first place was a blogger friend that had asked for some formal dress advice on a very special occasion for her as MOB/Mother of the Bride. Scoop Charlotte paired me up with PSW to help with my endeavor and help they did and more!! You can read my post on Scoop Charlotte here.
The more is the fact that I fell in love with the store and their classic, chic lines but also their wonderful staff. The day I was there, the manager, Johann, had on this beautiful black knit dress which I commented on. Although I was shopping for MOB/MOG, I knew that it likely would not fit into my post, featuring 5 different special occasion/evening wear outfits. However she insisted, I try it on. Needless to say I did, and fell in LOVE with this dress by Sympli. I had heard of the brand in the past from a couple of female executive colleagues, who traveled as much as I did. They loved the brand and the wearability for travel and versatility. (Hopefully, a collaboration is in the works for the near future.) My friends had told me about the brands strong following and the staff at PSW reiterated that point. PSW is one of a few "select" boutiques in the SouthEast offering the Sympli line, which is based out of B. C. Canada.
I hope you enjoy these pics of this beautiful black dress and how I styled it.
Why do I love this dress so much? First and foremost, I love the fit! Secondly, it can be dressed up or down with the right accessories. And next, it can be worn as a v-neck or round neck by "simply" putting it on in reverse! If you are traveling, I would wear this with Chuck Taylor low-top converse or flat, fun sandals during the the day and with stilettos or strappy sandals into the evening. In fact, Johann said someone had recently purchased it for a black tie event. I could definitely see that.
You will see this dress in a future post and I will definitely be dressing it down!
To purchase this dress, clutch and earrings, contact Paul Simon Women here: this Sympli dress is $230, the bag is Lilla P, $128, and the earrings are Samantha McCroll $85.
If you have a chance to stop by Paul Simon Women, please do and tell them that Jan from Silver sent you!! I should also mention Paul Simon offers men's clothes, too! I need to take Mr. Silver by soon.

Ever since I was first married, many moons ago, when I had to go out to get something, I always told Mr. Silver, I will be out "running errands." (Mr. Silver does not share my love of shopping.) This could really mean a lot of things; but to me, it meant getting stuff done, on weeknights or weekends when I was not flying around the country for work. However, it also meant that I did not have to hurry and I had time to browse and look around. Sometimes, errands could be quick, or sometimes they took awhile. Have you ever noticed that when your husband goes out to get something he is quick about it? To be perfectly frank, I am not quick... as I like to "look around." Therefore, in our house, (including my kids), they still like to ask/kid me if I've been out "running errands!" HA! Why yes I have! And I don't mind at all because it provides, me some "me" time!! Do you "run errands," too??
I found this fun, long hoodie (super comfy) at J.Jill recently. It is perfect for the spring. I am also wearing black leggings and a black J.Jill long sleeve tee (a great wardrobe basic.) Wearing my favorite Sam Edelman, black Carin espadrilles, (which they have brought back for another season), a silver bangle and earrings (FTC) and my new Silver backpack. This outfit is easy and comfy for some important errand running! :) You can find all details below.
Have a great rest of the week and as always, thank you for stopping by the blog. My goal is to share authentic ageless style; fashion, beauty and relevant lifestyle information as we share this fun journey together! I appreciate you!
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. We had a blast with our son, daughter-in-law and two sweet grands. Both my son and my daughter are not fond of social media so you won't see much of my grands except for maybe legs, backs of heads, etc.... which I completely respect.
The weather at the beach was still a bit rainy on Friday and chilly on Saturday. So we did not get a lot of time in the sand and sun but we did get to do a little shopping during naps at the local TJ Maxx. And let me tell you, this TJ's has fab finds... any time of the year.
So I thought, I would share 4 spring outfits built from this quick shopping trip. The best part is that every piece is under $40. Unfortunately, there is no way to link to the clothes as they typically stock different items online than in the stores and even so (as you well know) if you don't by it when you see it at TJ's or Marshall's, there is no going back, cause it's gone.
The first outfit is a casual sweatshirt with pouffy cotton sleeves perfect for spring weather. I am wearing my favorite converse tennis shoes and a pair of Articles of Society frayed jeans, which I linked in my Pearls post here.
Second is a pretty rose-colored tee/top with gold thread around the top. I am wearing jeans from the closet and gold espadrilles bought last year at TJ's.
My third look is a blue and white striped bell sleeve shirt, on sale for under $20, Free People jeans from the closet and my favorite JSlide blue suede shoes.
Last but not least is my favorite of the bunch, tencel joggers in a color I love but find difficult to describe. The tag says "toast" but it is closer to a "buttered rum with a twist of orange." These cool joggers can be dressed up or down. I added black strappy sandals and a black bell sleeve shirt from the closet. The fun, clear bucket bag was also under $20 and a fun accessory for the spring.
The moral of this post is don't shy away from the discount stores, when shopping for your seasonal wardrobe. For just over $100, I found four spring looks that I will wear through summer/fall.
As always, thanks for stopping by the blog. My goal is to share authentic ageless style; fashion, beauty and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! Have a great week!!
Do you celebrate Valentine's or Galantines? Mr. Silver and I usually stay in and fix a special dinner for the two of us! It is much more relaxing and since my birthday is right before, we are usually done celebrating and like to keep it simple. But for those of you that like to celebrate on the town, I have put together a few looks around light pink and a little rose gold! I wanted all three dresses to feature the same rose gold shoes and purse but the last dress did not work with the shoes... so I used black and added a fun new clutch ($12 at TJ Maxx!!) but linked below.
Hope you enjoy these three different looks! I may use one of these looks for an upcoming wedding in March!! (I am a bit late due to some heavy celebrating for my milestone birthday this weekend!) I have linked all in the gallery below, unless the piece is from my closet, #ftc.
As always, thank you reading and stopping by the blog. My goal is to share authentic ageless style and relevant information as we share this journey together! I so appreciate you, my friends and readers! XXOO
We all have those weeks! And I am glad to put last week behind me and move on but thought I would share with you a little with you.
Last Sunday night after watching our team's awful playoff game, I got that terrible stomach flu. I barely surfaced till Tuesday afternoon as it hung around. That night my Mom had a mild heart attack and we quickly met her at the hospital. Thankfully, after two procedures, care and rest in the hospital, she is back home and feeling much better!
Mom is a strong, independent, fierce, 80 (plus) year old that does things her way!! She still lives on her own with her two little dogs, drives herself, plays bridge 2X a week and enjoys life with her family and many friends.
My family is so blessed to have her in our lives and what a loving person she is. Who was she worried about last week? Not herself but me! She was worried that I had not gotten enough rest after the flu and spending the night and days with her. Talk about a mother's love!
Hoping to get back to normal this week but will be spending a lot of time with Mom till she is back in the driver's seat...so to speak.
I am wearing a cute plaid shirt from one of my favorite boutiques, Luxe Angel in Charlotte, a grey Eileen Fisher sweater from the closet, #ftc and jeans, also from Luxe Angel, which happen to be some of my new favorites. The brand is Articles of Society and they are a dark gray with a raw/cut hem. The fit is great and so is the price. In fact, they are still available here. My boots are Ralph Lauren from the closet, which I bought on sale at Belk last year for $7. They have the best sales. I have linked some similar boots for you.
Hope your week is great and thanks for stopping by as always. XXOO
Happy weekend, friends!
I love accordion pleated skirts as they are timeless and an ageless addition to any wardrobe! This silver and rust leopard print from Anthropologie really caught my eye, for the fall! I love the length and the beautiful fabric.
I like to get as much wear as I can from any addition to my wardrobe. So... I styled this pretty skirt two ways so that you could see the transition from day to night and how easy it is to make the switch.
These fabulous earrings are also from Anthropologie and found on sale. The grey suede booties are Vince Camuto. My sweatshirt is Free People, from the previous season #ftc, and Carolee earrings #ftc.
The evening photo features the same accordion pleated skirt, a J.Crew sequin top #ftc (possibly 10 years old), a Kate Landry evening bag #ftc, Ralph Lauren strappy sandals #ftc and earrings #ftjb. All new or similar items will be featured in the gallery below.
These photos were taken at the Pump House in Rock Hill, SC (just south of Charlotte) at the Rooftop Bar. If you get a chance to visit I would I highly suggest this restaurant and bar. The views are beautiful and the food and drinks... amazing!
As always, thank you for reading and I love to read comments so be sure to post them below!
As you may have noticed, I took a vacation. It was much needed, am very rested and heart is full after spending time with our children and grands. Excited to be back!
We took a quick trip to Asheville this weekend and had a great time. We love the downtown area, Biltmore Village, and all the fabulous breweries. The West Elm outlet is fun too, if you love a great deal like I do! The Grand Bohemian Hotel is one of our favorite places to stay. I highly recommend you check it out!
These fun pictures were taken while enjoying mimosas at the Grand Bohemian. I can literally have a mimosa any day of the week, but Sundays seem fitting... celebrating the week behind, the week ahead and the little bit of weekend left!
This cute tee is from Target by Zoe + Liv. My adorable black wrap skirt (frayed at the bottom) is by Cloth & Stone purchased at Anthropology (in the sale room.) Similar here. These black suede espadrilles are Sam Edelman (one of my favorite brands.) My necklace is Roberto Coin (a gift from Mr. Silver), earrings are vintage Kendra Scott, and the matching clear bangle is FTJB (from the jewelry box).
I hope everyone has a fantastic week ahead and that you get the chance to celebrate even life's little moments with a mimosa. Here is a toast to the week ahead, "cheers lovelies!"
As always, thank you for reading!
