At the beach having a wonderful time with family! You won't see me much for the next week as I plan to take a needed break...but will be back soon. I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July holiday with family and friends.
In the meantime, I had the best time with my daughter and daughter-in-law; playing pajama time and wearing mix and match pajamas from Soma Intimates! I know you have heard me rave about their Cool Nights line before but my girls and I swear that these pj's keep us cooler than anything else during the heat of the summer, night sweats, hot flashes, etc. If you have not tried them, we would highly suggest them. And if you do, look into this fun mix and match set that is interchangeable.
Thank you to Soma for sponsoring this post. You can shop these pajamas below on the LIKETOKNOW.IT app and until a week from now... signing off from the beach!
Thank you for being such a fabulous reader and for being a big part of my life as well! My best to you always!
Last week, Mr. Silver and I took a jaunt over to Charleston for the day while in Hilton Head for a stay-cation. We love Charleston for all the fun shops, great eats, and the southern style charm. The weather was gorgeous, not too hot and a beautiful breeze.
We spent the morning walking around and shopping, and ate lunch at a fun taco place, Mr. Silver knew I would enjoy; Taco Boy. In the afternoon, we had drinks at the Pavilion Bar on the rooftop of the Market Pavilion Hotel which offered great views of the city and the harbor and visited the bar at 5Church; pics below. 5Church is worth a visit in itself, just to see a former church, renovated to a restaurant. Definitely check out the art, the ceiling, and the drinks. We finished the day at Husk, which is a must for a great dinner if you are planning a trip to Charleston. Hint… book reservations way before your visit!!!
That day, I was wearing wide-leg floral pants from H&M (I call them culottes... remember them), a silk sleeveless blouse, open toe booties and a rattan Boho circle bag. It was the perfect “cool” outfit for the day. Follow the link below for shopping details on IG and LIKEtoKNOW.it.
Have a great rest of the week and as always, thank you for reading the blog. My goal is to share chic, authentic and ageless style; covering fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! I truly appreciate you!
While in Greenville, SC this week, we found this wall by Gaia a well-known street artist, which spoke to my heart. You can read more about the wall and symbolism here. It is hidden among construction sites going up everywhere in this fabulous southern city, and in fact, the wall had a danger ribbon around it to prevent it from harm. However, the importance of the wall, altruism, is to remind people to spread kindness and provide inclusiveness to all.
Kindness is so easy to share, with anyone and it all starts with love in our heart for everyone. In fact, when we practice altruism, we benefit greatly as well. A smile, a compliment, a conversation, a gift of love or compassion, making others feel welcome: is a simple act shared every day can make the world a better place. Kudo's to Greenville, for this wonderful street art and the meaning behind it.
In this photo, I feel like I blend into the wall. Maybe I do! I am wearing a classic jean shirt from Chico's pants, and their so slimming jeggings and my favorite Sam Edelman slide on leopard sneakers. I have put links to all or similar below in the gallery.
Mr. Silver and I are planning a trip back to Greenville soon. If you have time while near Charlotte or Atlanta, take an extra little journey on I-85 and explore Greenville, SC.
As always, thanks for stopping by and reading the blog. My goal is to share authentic ageless style; fashion, beauty and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together! I appreciate this time together! Hope that did not sound too much like Mr. Rogers! :)
Recently on a flight to San Antonio, I met a really cool lady. Her name is Bonnie and she is a flight attendant for American Airlines. My Mom was with me and we engaged in an ongoing dialog with Bonnie throughout the flight. Soon into the conversation we found out, she is not your ordinary 70ish year old! In fact, she started as a flight attendant 33 years ago and continues to enjoy her career today. She said the day she stops enjoying it, is the day she will retire.
Bonnie has the best smile and a beautiful head of curly, silver hair. These days, she only makes day trips but that does not stop Bonnie from traveling for pleasure. When I asked Bonnie about taking risks and adventures, she did not hesitate to tell me about her most recent excursion. Drum roll, please! Bonnie drove by herself from Charlotte to Alaska and back in her Prius; 12,800 miles! Let me repeat that... all by herself. Many people want to do something like that but she did it. We talked about the adventures she had including one mishap and how she met the best people along the way!!
When asked about her motto or mantra, Bonnie shared that it changes all the time as she evolves. Most recently, she borrowed one from an author who walked the Pacific Coast Trail, "I am safe, I am strong, I am brave." You are awesome, Bonnie!
Bonnie also said she has no regrets! She loves herself and attributes that to all she has experienced in her life, both negative and positive!
It was a true pleasure to meet Bonnie and I hope she inspires you as she did me! Bonnie, is one fierce lady that I am lucky enough to count among my friends! And kudo's to American Airlines for valuing this fierce, ageless woman!
If you would like to be featured in an upcoming Super Women Wednesday, please send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
As always, thanks for reading and stopping by! Keeping it fun, chic and ageless...
Helping others be successful has always been a passion of mine. This could be helping a woman considering the transition to silver hair shine, a person trying to become more relevant as she/he ages or mentoring a millennial to find their true joy. Sales leadership has been my lifelong career and I recently have been doing some sales consulting. I love helping companies, sales leaders, and salespeople be successful.
I believe that as a modern, ambitious woman it is important to look the part. And to me, the biggest part is looking and feeling CONFIDENT every day! I was recently contacted by the Misook brand and was aware of the brand since three of my favorite blogging influencers were recently promoted by the brand. Check out these three fabulous bloggers Beth, Tanya, and Cathy featured here. Needless to say, I was more than thrilled to collaborate too, based on the quality and stylish designs. I feel that quality, style and elegance are what help us feel confident in the clothes we wear. If we buy less quantity, but higher quality, we can never go wrong. Read more about this wonderful brand and how Misook Doolittle got her start here. I also loved the fact that Misook uses silver-haired models to promote their brand. BRAVO!!
As you can see I chose this beautiful Faux Suede Moto Jacket. I love the gorgeous gray color and the stylish design. This jacket can be dressed up for an evening out or used for a more casual look. I am wearing a black pencil skirt and black turtleneck, gray chandelier earrings; J. Crew, MAC lipstick, patterned stockings and black suede pumps by Guess. I am carrying my favorite notebook by Leuchttrum 1917, ruled slim. Check out the gallery below for all of the shopping links.
These photo's were taken at the Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, NC. The perfect place for meetings and events and where I have had many meetings over the years. It's a fabulous venue.
Thank you again to Misook for sponsoring this post and my Moto Jacket! Misook has also provided you, my reader with a promo code, for 25% off... even more reason to shop. Here is the code: MSK6191. Happy Shopping!!
Thank you for reading and until next time! XXOO
Last week I visited my daughter's family in New Braunfels, TX and had a wonderful time. While there, she and I (and two small grandsons) decided to take a side trip to Waco, Texas and Magnolia Market for an overnight. The town of Waco is charming and Magnolia Market is something to see if you like Chip and Jo Jo's style and the show Fixer Upper!
making my mark with my Silver is the New Blonde™ tee
Mr. Silver and I enjoy the show. It is easy to watch and to get caught in the humor between Chip and Joanna. Chip has an uncanny way of helping her see the humor in most things... and although widely successful they are rooted in their family, community and life together. If you have read their story, you are aware of Joanna's strong faith. Trying to do the right thing as a mother, (independent of religion) and putting your trust in the Lord that you are doing your best for your family and children. There are so many trials and tribulations as a Mom, most of us can easily associate with her struggles.
Wherever we went the people of Waco were gracious and welcoming, the store was fun, and the crowds were not too bad. Customer service is pretty spectacular, wherever you are on the property. My daughter and I found the prices reasonable for the quality. Not everyone can find treasures like Joanna, so it's great that they provide these items (although mass produced) for the average homeowner. We both felt that the greenery and silk flowers were very real looking and of extremely high quality. I would suggest you check them out as I have not seen anything like them before at any of the craft stores. Especially the tulips!
My awesome new earrings featured above are Raven +Lilly, bought at the market. Before I left the market three people asked me where I bought them. They are made of leather and so fun! I am also wearing white jeans from J. Crew Factory, Clubmaster sunnies from Ray-Ban and my faithful Jack Roger sandals as well as my usual arm candy!
Truly the best part of the trip was spending time with my daughter and grandsons. Check out the cute pics below. Of course the last is in the hotel pool!
Suggestions for your trip... don't go in the heat of the summer! Or if you do, at the very least, don't shower till after! HA! Check out the watermelon drinks at Luna Juice Bar. Pretty awesome! And enjoy lunch at Alpha Omega Grill and Bakery... it was really good! My one suggestion for Magnolia Market was recycling containers, which they said were in the works!!
PS. If you love my tee as I have heard from so many, know that they will be coming to the blog! Please check back!!
Thank you for reading and until next time XXOO,
Hope your weekend was great! After a fun weekend at the beach, I started Monday with the slows. Well, Monday dragged into Tuesday and I decided to turn it around by making various lists of to do's to get ahead of the rest of the week. Wish me luck!! Anybody else start the week with the slows?
Back to the blog... I found this pretty Ralph Lauren over-sized shirt last year at Belk on the sale rack and paid under $10 for it. I felt it would make the best beach cover-up due to the light-weight cotton fabric. I love the long sleeves, that can be rolled up or down depending on the weather or the sun. After I got home with it, I decided it needed something. Being that I like personalization, I took it to my local embroidery boutique but due to the weight of the fabric, they talked me out of that idea. Darn! But they had another... they suggested I use screen printing to put my name on the back. I had not thought of that, but they assured me it would work great! We went ahead with the plan and I can tell you I love the result! In fact, I had three people ask me about the cover-up that very day on the beach. Of course, I suggested they read about it on the blog!!
Complimenting my new cover-up, this cute fringe beach hat was a fun find at the local Hilton Head TJ Maxx, and under $13. Whenever I'm at the beach, I always check their racks and usually find a thing or two for the wardrobe. I also saw several white shirts that could be used as cover-ups. TJ Maxx never disappoints.
Would love to hear what you have personalized lately? I have plans to use Pom-Poms for another beach cover-up soon... so stay tuned~
As always, thanks for reading!
As you may have noticed, I took a vacation. It was much needed, am very rested and heart is full after spending time with our children and grands. Excited to be back!
We took a quick trip to Asheville this weekend and had a great time. We love the downtown area, Biltmore Village, and all the fabulous breweries. The West Elm outlet is fun too, if you love a great deal like I do! The Grand Bohemian Hotel is one of our favorite places to stay. I highly recommend you check it out!
These fun pictures were taken while enjoying mimosas at the Grand Bohemian. I can literally have a mimosa any day of the week, but Sundays seem fitting... celebrating the week behind, the week ahead and the little bit of weekend left!
This cute tee is from Target by Zoe + Liv. My adorable black wrap skirt (frayed at the bottom) is by Cloth & Stone purchased at Anthropology (in the sale room.) Similar here. These black suede espadrilles are Sam Edelman (one of my favorite brands.) My necklace is Roberto Coin (a gift from Mr. Silver), earrings are vintage Kendra Scott, and the matching clear bangle is FTJB (from the jewelry box).
I hope everyone has a fantastic week ahead and that you get the chance to celebrate even life's little moments with a mimosa. Here is a toast to the week ahead, "cheers lovelies!"
As always, thank you for reading!
