Investing in Beauty Sleep

As an ageless woman, I have realized how important sleep is.  I used to be able to get by on 5-6 hours of sleep but learned the wear and tear that regimen can take on your body and your beauty.  ;)  Once I hit 60, I made the decision to not take my sleep lightly.

Mr. Silver and I had been discussing investing in a new mattresses since we both felt we were tossing and turning way too much each night.  He sleeps very sound, whereas I am a very light sleeper and usually wake at least 2-3 times per night.  My waking is usually the result of night sweats or just being uncomfortable in a particular position.  Do you wake up many times each night, too?

So we turned to the Internet and began researching the best mattresses out there.  Luckily we found The Wave by @casper.com, designed for advanced support for your body at 33 key points, temperature regulation (breathable foam for increased airflow) and 5 layers of premium foam.

I want you to know that although this is a sponsored post, I am truly in love and so happy with our new mattress, that I would endorse this mattress regardless.  Mr. Silver and I are both sleeping better than we have in years and feel that this bed was made specifically for us.  I am sleeping through the night.  Neither one of us is tossing nor turning and best of all, I have eliminated my night sweats.

If you are considering a new mattress, I would highly suggest The Wave by @casper.com.  It was shipped directly to our home, setup was a snap, and they offer a 100-night trial with free return and pickup.  You have nothing to lose but everything to gain by investing in a great night’s sleep.

Roll with it Baby!!

Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle, MakeupJan Correll2 Comments

I love that song... and I have to agree...sometimes you've got to roll with it baby, soak it up and take it all in.  And this month my friends... that is just what I am doing!

As many of you may know, I was featured by the New York Times and Ruth LaFerla as one of seven Grandmas's of Instagram.  It is still surreal to me but I am ever grateful to have been included with these fabulous women.  A high school girlfriend in Tampa sent me her newspaper from Tampa and I was smack dab on the fashion page. This is the same girlfriend that worked with me in my Dad's chicken restaurant, Mr. Drumstick.  (We wore white uniforms with orange and white striped aprons... truly not a glamorous start.) Ha. Since then, I have been featured by Charlotte Stories here and CharlotteFive here, Darla Desiderioboth wonderful features, as well as on a live radio interview by Patti Mercer, in Fort Mill, SC where I reside.

You can imagine my excitement when a Charlotte TV station asked me to join them on their morning show and tell my story about age positivity as well.  I thoroughly enjoyed Tonya Rivens and Julianna White... they made it so much fun.  I felt like I was sitting down with friends.  What a great experience.  You can watch the interview here.

Next, a gentleman reached out to me on Instagram, which I usually delete.  "Lucky" is his name and he shared that he had just seen me on a top 30 TV station.  Not understanding completely, I had to say "huh" and "where?"  Lucky was nice enough to find the link for me to share with my family.   I loved this video and want to share it with you, created by Fox46 Charlotte's Page Fehling:

Please know that I am not tooting my horn, rather I am sharing what is possible for anyone at any age. You can do anything!  And I am here to support and tell you that the time is right, grab it, hold onto it, create it, do what you want and most importantly... roll with it, baby!

My goal is to share ageless style, and endless fun, from a sincerely silver perspective.  Including fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together!  And as always thank you for reading my blog!

Bold Beauty - Eye Liners

BeautyJan Correll6 Comments
IMG_2332.jpg

I love my eyes.  And it's ok to say that.  I feel like my eyes really show my happiness and joy.  So why not make the most out of them!  Right? I use to lightly line my eyes both top and bottom until... I hit middle age and decided I needed a softer look.  I went to one of my favorite makeup counters and asked for some advice.  At Laura Mercier, they showed me how to "tightline" my eyes, which I have now been doing for years.   You can read more about it here.  And you can buy the special brush and cake eyeliner here and here.  The brush is a bit expensive but it will last for years.  It took a bit of practice to perfect both but feel the look is much softer than lining above my eyelashes which I felt was too heavy especially for daytime.

Still trying to brighten my eyes a bit I looked for another technique to accentuate and brighten my eyes.  Many days, especially when I was traveling every week, I felt my peepers looked tired.  I like this article that shares different ideas on brightening.  Luckily, I found a white highlighter by Sonia Kashuk that works extremely well and you can buy it here from Amazon. There are many other brands that offer eye highlighters as well and I have linked them below in Instagram and LiketoKnow.it. My video below shows both tightlining as well as highlighting.

I love both methods as it looks natural for an everyday look.  And if you have blue or green eyes, it really makes your eye color stand out.  If I am applying or freshening up my makeup for a night out, I usually freshen both areas and may pop some white highlighter in the corners of my eyes to open up my eyes even more.

If you use some of the links provided, I may receive a small commission if you purchase the product.  If you do... thank you... if not, hope you enjoyed my content.  And if you recently joined me... welcome!!   My goal is to share chic ageless style and endless fun, from a sincerely silver perspective.  Including fashion, beauty, and relevant lifestyle information as we share this journey together!  Thank you for reading my blog!

"Of Course You May"

Beauty, Fashion, Lifestyle, Shoes, TravelJan Correll4 Comments

When becoming a grandmother almost 4 and 1/2 years ago, like most Grandma's, I was smitten with my first grandson.  He was born almost 3 months early and that made him even more precious.  At the time, I decided that as a Grandma, I wanted to be as special as my Grandma (Marnie) and my grandma (Nana) were. They were two very different women, one from a small town in Southern Illinois and the other an Italian immigrant from Chicago.  Although distinct women, their spirit and love for family and  their grandchildren was immense.   Marnie, was a spitfire, who kept reinventing herself (a yogi at 80) and Nana, a very successful business woman, providing global travel tours through her business.   Both taught me different things... that left life long impressions.  Nana; a great work ethic, and my love of cooking and travel and Marnie; to live life to the fullest and to make each little adventure count.

Even though my grands are all under the age of 5, I wanted to instill subtle lessons and reminders that may help them especially in times of self-doubt at any age.  "Of course you may." became my mantra to them whenever they ask me a question.  Unless of course, they wanted to do something dangerous.  "Of course you may," means that yes, they can have that chocolate chip cookie or yes, I will play pirates or dolls, but it also means that they can do anything!  And that is what I want them to remember.  They can change their mind, they have the right to make decisions (although there are consequences) and that they have the ability to be in control.   Much like my Grandma Marnie, I like to get down on the floor, do somersaults, make up stories, and play in the dirt but the love, affection and support she provided, was that I was special and I could do anything I wanted.

So friends we need to remember this phrase as well because we can do anything, or be anything we want at any age; start a blog, start a business, travel, change course, meet new people, try different things, continue to learn... "of course you may, my friend."

Fighting Wrinkles at Night

Beauty, Favorite ProductsJan Correll1 Comment

When SilcSkin recently approached me about testing their product (100% medical grade silicone pads that remove wrinkles), I was skeptical.  Why?  The reviews, the raves and the feedback are pretty spectacular and are a promoted as a proven alternative to injections, laser treatments and surgery. You can read more here, but in essence, wrinkles are treated as scars by hydration, improving the collagen structure and flattening them out.  I had to try these out for myself... and for you!

When the product arrived, I was very pleased to find that nothing I read said anti-aging.  Woot Woot!  As that is a big no-no, in my book!  As you can see below, they sent pads for the neck, face, eyes, and decollette.

IMG_4934.jpg

I have been trying out each product over the last 30 days and have to say that they truly live up to their promise.  I have seen wrinkle decreases in all the areas treated.    Each pad can be reused for approximately 15 days.  If I had to pick a favorite, it would be hard to do.  I love the non-oily cleanser, which is suggested before application, and each product delivers.  The eye pads also help with puffiness which is great as I battle this one puffy eye.  Surprisingly enough, the hand cream is my go to... I really can see a difference in my hands, too!

IMG_4102.JPG
IMG_4113.JPG

I have taken the liberty of modeling the pads for you but I dare say, that you and Mr. Silver are the only ones to see me in these.  Definitely, for night time wear only (and they did not affect my sleep.)  Thank goodness.

I would be lying if I told you I was calm and collected when I received a pm on Instagram from a writer at the New York Times.  I immediately checked out the writer's articles and was blown away; Ashley Longshore, Isabella Rossellini, and Brooke Shields to name a few.  Her message read:  may I contact you for a New York Times feature?  I did not take long to say, why yes... you may!

After a 30 minute interview, with Ruth La Ferla, who was a delight, the rest is history!  You can read the article here.

Special Feature: Sharing A Journey

Have you ever met someone and wished you gotten to know her sooner?  I feel this way about Nina of Sharing a Journey an ageless Fashion and Lifestyle blog.   I am thrilled and happy to share and promote her to you, my readers as part of a special feature!

Getting to know her...  first, over a year ago we both participated in a blogging event called The Fierce Fifty.  We were two of 50 female bloggers who partnered to share each other's stories.  Several of us in the group became friends and since then Nina started an informal group so that we could stay connected and help each other.  When she suggested a similar collaboration amongst our small group I was excited to be paired with Nina as I had admired her from afar.  From our very first phone call, I could tell that she is not only a beautiful woman but also, has a beautiful spirit; with a passion for sincere kindness and a love for others.

Nina’s story is one you may have heard and that I too have experienced a part of.  The love of a raising independent children and having a great career but also that search of, what’s next in this journey of life.  Nina has a beautiful college-age daughter and is soon to be a permanent empty nester!  What’s interesting about Nina’s story is that although very accomplished in a variety of ways she realized areas of her life that she wanted to change and improve and as she made these changes her story led her to a mid-life renaissance and her blog.

Nina is fashionably chic, classic and elegant with a  twist.  I feel that our styles are somewhat similar and maybe that is one of the ways in which I feel a kinship.  She looks great in anything and does not tell her readers how to dress but guides them by trying new things to keep her look interesting and fun. Nina also stays very active and practices daily meditation and reflection, you can read some her "Morning Musings" here.

I hope you will pop over to Nina’s blog, Sharing a Journey and check it out!  She’s a great writer offering wonderful perspective.

Below are some questions I posed to Nina in the hopes that you may get to know her better, too!

What has been the biggest benefit as a result of your blog? The biggest benefit I’ve experienced from my blog is the relationships I’ve developed with other bloggers, and Sharing A Journey Readers.  We’ve been doing bi-weekly Facebook Lives, which has been really fun because of the interaction in the community.

What or who inspires you?  I am most inspired by the women I’ve met over the past year or so who are rocking midlife like nobody’s business.  Two of my friends have started businesses and are crushing it, my daughter who is just starting out is amazing and going strong.  I think it’s all the positive creative energy.  It’s amazing and so powerful.

What’s the most exciting/adventuresome thing you have ever done? I am not an adventurous person.  My father loved to travel and was always introducing me to new experiences.  I still smile remembering how many times he had me doing all sorts of silly things (and snapping photos of me—he was a photographer in his later years) and the many trips we took together.  Now that he’s gone my biggest adventures have been starting over after being divorced, beginning a new chapter with an almost empty nest and starting Sharing A Journey.  I’d love to travel again and am hoping to go back to Europe next year.

Do you have a mantra/motto you live by?  One thing that started happening last year was that I started receiving “guide words”.  I would work with one like “say yes” and when that would sort of peter out, another word would come.  The words helped me navigate all the new territory I was experiencing with the blog and my life.

Do you have any regrets?  I regret listening to negative Nellie’s who discouraged others and me. You know the kind of people who don’t want anyone to be their best.  I only surround myself with people who want the best for themselves and others.  I am blessed to be in a small working group of women who really enjoy seeing each other succeed and help each other.  We cheer each other on—one of my friends is launching a book next week—she started it 7 months ago and now it’s being printed!  I can’t wait!

What would you like to tell your younger self?  Not to listen, spend time or give any energy to people who don’t bring out the best in one another.

What are your thoughts on aging?  I don’t think much about “aging”- I am all about living my best life and encouraging others to do the same.

What is one thing that you look forward to every day? Just experiencing life, whatever comes that day, it’s mostly good, and I am grateful. (Though I did have a blood test today and my arm still hurts...)

I hope you enjoyed meeting Nina!  If you are in mid-life you already know about this voyage toward the next phase of our lives and the challenges it brings.   I hope you find it inspiring and insightful to read about other women and their journeys so that we know we are never alone.

Have a great rest of the week and as always, thank you for stopping by the blog.  My goal is to share authentic ageless style; fashion, beauty and relevant lifestyle information! I appreciate you!

Hair Worries

Have you ever looked at the shower drain after washing your hair and exclaimed, "oh my?"  Or looked at your hairline in a magnifying mirror and seen more scalp showing?  I can answer "yes" to both those questions.  And if you can too, then this post is for you!

IMG_2036.jpg
download (1).jpg

My hair is thick, coarse and wavy.  Over the last few years due to thyroid issues and hashimoto's, I feel that I have lost a lot of hair.  Although I would not say my hair is thin, I would say it was thinning.  I even went so far as to speak with my endocrinologist about my concerns.  He tweaked my medicine, but that did not seem to help much.  I was getting concerned and reading everything I could about thinning hair on the web.  Lucky for me, I heard from a company that addressed my problem... KeraHealth.

IMG_1892.jpg

I have to say, I was a bit skeptical at first but after doing my research, was intrigued and agreed to work with them.  What makes the product unique is the patented technology ingredient, KerCysteine – an exclusive product developed by scientists in the South of France that provides hair follicles with the necessary, highly absorbable amino acids, to stimulate and improve the production of the natural structural elements of hair. Importantly, the ingredients in Kerahealth Women and KeraHealth Men are naturally sourced, and the supplements are manufactured in an FDA approved facility in the USA.  I would suggest you do your own research here as I am not a scientist nor a doctor.  If you are interested in the results of their clinical studies you can read more about them here.

IMG_9955.jpg

After two months, of use, I am extremely pleased.  I am seeing new hair growth and my hair is much shinier and feels thicker, too.  I don't see nearly as much breakage when drying or using hair tools.  In fact, I plan to buy the product for my Mom, daughter, and DIL.  My Mom has experienced thinning hair for years and both of my girls went through the typical hair loss after pregnancies.

My hair is important to me as it is to most people and I will do whatever I can to maintain it.  KeraHealth has now become part of my regimen.  This product seriously works and I highly recommend it.  As mentioned above, they also make a men's product available here.

KeraHealth is offering my readers a 10% discount.  When ordering here you may use the code: JAN10.  Please... if you decide to purchase KeraHealth, comment and share your results to spread the word for others having the same "hair worries."

Thank you to KeraHealth for sponsoring this post.  All opinions are my own and I only share products, styles, and brands that I believe in, wear or have tested.

Simply Venom

BeautyJan Correll4 Comments
IMG_0238.jpg

After posting this picture on Facebook back in January,  a woman accused me of having "work done!"  I was quick to let her know that I have not and don’t plan to.  Although other women may choose that route.  More power to them, it’s an individual decision.  However, I know it’s not for me.  I choose to work with what I’ve got and want to look great for my age… not necessarily younger.  Yes, as you can see, I have laugh lines around my mouth and smile wrinkles, too.

The same month, I was in contact with Simply Venom™ and we made the decision to collaborate.  I had seen a few big time bloggers advocating the product so of course wanted to try it and share my results.  You can read all about the product here to learn more about how and why it was developed by two doctors.  The first thing I liked is the fact that the specific ingredients are right on the bottle.  Secondly, after 30 days of use, feel it is a great product.  Did it remove my wrinkles?  No, however, I feel it made them much less noticeable and made my skin look great.  Everyday, I used both the day and the night cream and noticed my skin became firmer and tighter after a few days of use.  Fun fact, I was out of my foundation and ran into Sephora to get a refill.  The sales consultant quickly helped me and asked if she could take a moisture reading on my skin.  I said sure and she could not believe the results.  She asked what I was using and said, “keep using it… I have never gotten a higher rating and your skin looks great!”  Her endorsement said a lot about the product and the way I felt about my skin.

IMG_0928.jpg

I should also mention that my skin feels wonderful and even though I did this trial over January/February  (in the middle of winter), it feels hydrated all day long.  Therefore, I give a big “thumps up” as my second grandson would say and I would highly recommend Simply Venom to my friends and readers.

Thank you to Simply Venom for these wonderful products and sponsoring this post. We can all try to look and feel our best, but aging is going to happen, let’s try to make the most of it and us!   All opinions are my own.

Teeth Whitening at Home (and smiling fearlessly)

SMILE FEARLESSLY (teeth whitening at home)

I feel a smile is your signature.  A smile also exudes confidence.   And I don’t know about you but I would much rather be smiling than not!   Thanks to Smile Brilliant and our recent collaboration, I am smiling fearlessly!

I am a coffee drinker and a red wine drinker. And love both!! Even my daughter (very young at the time) noticed my yellow teeth from enjoying these habits (see above!)

I always wanted to have my teeth whitened but due to tooth sensitivity was fearful.  Smile Brilliant made my decision easy when they asked me to collaborate.  Have to say I was thrilled.  The process was simple and my teeth are no more sensitive today than they were initially.  For sensitivity, they offer a special desensitizing gel that counteracts any sensitivity.

First, they send you a kit to make the dental impressions.  This was the hardest part for me.  They key is to do this step in front of a mirror; after that, it was a breeze.  I always planned on about 2 hours to make sure I followed the process.  I whitened every other night but some people whiten every night.

I am thrilled with the results and feel it’s a great alternative to traditional teeth whitening.  I plan to continue to whiten with the Smile Brilliant product because I love the results!

And the best part is that Smile Brilliant is offering my readers a Giveaway!  Enter below and on all my social media accounts!!

Giveaway link: www.smilebrilliant.com/g/silveristhenewblonde

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to work with the Smile Brilliant brand.  My results are fantastic and I love my smile!

Gift Idea's

Beauty, Lifestyle, HomeJan CorrellComment

Oh my!  Thirteen days till Christmas!  I feel like I am running out of time, do you?  So happy that I can shop online, even though I enjoy the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping in malls, boutiques and my favorite stores.

I mentioned in a previous post that Soft Surroundings asked me to choose some items, to share with my readers. You might remember the fabulous, faux fur poncho. Such a fun piece for the wardrobe!! Well, I got to pick three more items, and  can't wait to share them with you!  Truly, it felt like an early Holiday!

IMG_9277.jpg

The first item, I chose and highly recommend as a gift for anyone is this Lamb Wrap.  Several years ago, my husband gifted me a neck wrap for neck and shoulder tension.  So every night, before bed, I heat up the wrap in the microwave, wrap it around my neck and unwind.  It has always been one of my favorite gifts.  And this little lambie is so cute, and the aromatherapy is wonderful.  This one can also be frozen.   If you put this on your list for a loved one, I swear it will be a hit!!

IMG_0268.jpg

Next, I chose a holiday oil diffuser from Nest. If you love Holiday fragrances in your home and try to stay away from candles like I do, this one is simply the best.  I actually gave this as a gift to my children's in-laws in the past and it was a favorite.  Also, a great gift for the friend that has everything!!

IMG_9267.jpg

Last but definitely not least is my Cailyn O! Wow Brush.  This is one of Oprah's 2017 Favorite Things and you or your friend will say "Oh Wow," once it's used.  This brush provides a flawless finish when applying foundation and has won two beauty awards.  The shape makes for even distribution.  I love this makeup brush and feel you will, too!

Hope this puts you a little closer to finishing your shopping.  Soft Surroundings can really help you mark some items off that list via your local store or shopping online!

I hope to hear back if you gift any of these items or just buy them for yourself.

Tomorrow, I am headed out and braving the crowds.  Wish me luck!!

As always, thank you for stopping by and reading!!  I so appreciate each and every one of you.

XOXO

The Boots

You might have seen these boots on a social media video two weeks ago.  These boots are special and unique!  Just look at them... they are so much fun, in addition to being fur-fringed, bling-tasseled, suede and Italian made.  That is why I had to show them off in a video first!!  I bought them right off another women's feet. A first for me!  Why might you ask? I attended a Fall Pop-Up for Dress for Success (DFS) Charlotte.  This is not your usual Pop-Up... it was for a great cause.  Four Charlotte women, all friends, came together two years ago to host Cocktails & Couture.  They solicit their friends to provide high-end, haute couture that they no longer wear for donations to the event.   The event has become a great success and is now hosted both spring and fall!  For every $500 raised, DFS provides job preparedness, job acquisition, employment retention, IT Access and Support, and Career Advancement Services to a woman for an entire year.  So twice a year, dozens of women benefit from a fun night of shopping and friendship.

Over the course of the evening, I noticed the boots, one of the hosts, was wearing.  I had to comment on them, since they were so unique!  Little did I know, she was just modeling them. Next thing I knew, she was taking them off and I was putting them on.  That is when I knew I had to have them and voila, they were mine!  In fact, I did not take them off till I got home and showed Mr. Silver. (He could not believe the story about how I acquired them.)  I should also mention, I bought a couple of other items including a snake bracelet that I adore.  I guarantee you will see it in the future!

I hope you enjoy the photo's of these fun boots styled three different ways.  Who says we can't wear what we want?  I choose stylish, chic and fun every time.

Have you ever noticed how Disney's Sleeping Beauty looked beautiful even when she was sleeping? Her hair is perfect. Her skin is flawless…and her lips are rosy, red!

I know that I don’t look like “Sleeping Beauty” while trying to get my 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night, but I was determined to find out how to wake up without extra wrinkles on my face and silky-smooth hair… even though I toss and turn most nights.  Through my research, I found this article by Lauren Valenti of Marie Claire, which shares the benefits of sleeping on a silk pillowcase, as well as a HuffPost Style article by Julee Wilson.  After reading both, I decided to test out this theory myself.  And the results are in!   I highly recommend sleeping on a silk pillowcase.  It truly prolongs a hairstyle and helps controls frizz. I also notice an improvement in my skin; less redness and fewer creases.   I’m sure my favorite nighttime moisturizer helps as well, but more on that in an upcoming post.

As you can imagine, my silk pillowcase has now become one of my Favorite Things!  Watch out, Aurora!

Below are some links to some different grades of silk pillowcases.  However, you can find them all over the web.  I purchased the first one below.

If you decide to try a silk pillowcase out for yourself, please leave your comments below or on my Facebook page!  I truly want to hear how it has worked for you!!

A Dirty Little Secret

BeautyJan Correll1 Comment

Do you ever go to bed without washing your face?  Do you ever use makeup wipes in place of washing your face?  I know, I know…it is so gross but you are not alone as I am guilty!  It does not happen often but it is so easy to pull out those pre-moistened face wipes, (especially when tired after a long day) and voila our face looks clean!  But the dirty little secret is… it’s not!  Yes…repeat after me…facial wipes are not a daily-cleansing solution (even when tired).  Check out how to wash your face by Maureen Choi, in Glamour Magazine.

So should we blame these cleansing wipes for any indentions in our skin (wrinkles) or the occasional adult acne (pimples).  Possibly (according to Claire Coleman of the Daily Mail)?

Dr. Erno Laszlo, who built a heritage in skincare products taught the high society ladies in America and Europe how to wash their face. His clientele included royalty and many of Hollywood’s A-listers, His iconic original cleansing bar, formulated with therapeutic Dead Sea Mud, is still a big part of the four-step process.  However, his 30 splashes regimen is still famous today.  Video demonstration.

Twice a week, (less than most people, due to Rosacea), I use my Clarisonic.  I am religious about this deep poor cleansing.  In fact, I love mine so much; I bought them for the girls and guys in my family.

My favorite article on the subject of facial cleansing for more developed skin was found on High50 by Judy Heminsley.  Ah, the double cleanse!  I really took this advice to heart and since reading this article am a true-blue, double cleanser.  As the article points out…any make-up or dirt left in the pore will prevent your serums, creams, topical treatments, etc. from penetrating the skin effectively!  Let’s not work against ourselves!

I don’t ever want to turn the clock back and I do like the way experience shows on my face…however, I also want to try to look my best by having healthy, glowing skin.  No more facial/makeup remover wipes for this Silver! Please join me ladies, and let me know your thoughts on the double cleanse!!

REAL STYLE IS AGELESS

Is youth passé?  Are we in the retirement renaissance?  Is maturity chic?

Not only is silver hair the new trend and very smart I might add, the young at heart are becoming the It-Girls of Fashion,  Iris Apfel, (read her story by Andrea Smith of Sublime Finds) is now the face of brands like Kate Spade and Alexis Bittar. As the article in Adweek (by Emma Bazilian) states she has joined, Joan Didion, Joanie Mitchell, Twiggy, Helen Mirren and many more.

The Silver economy is an important demographic, and brands (including luxury) are chasing mature consumers. Evidently, we have the most spending power. From the article above in Adweek, it appears; we will continue to see these beautiful women grace the fall fashion world.

Is there a shock factor in these ads?  Are they an insult to older women?  This article by Sandra Howard for the Daily Mail certainly conveys that message. I don’t understand her complaint on styles for mature women.  Sandra might want to check out …that’s not my age blog by Alyson Walsh and her Style Forever book. http://thatsnotmyage.blogspot.co.uk    Iris Apfel is certainly not wining about difficulty finding smart, stylish clothes.

My feeling is you can take these ads how you want to.   For me, the breadth of fresh air is the acceptance of women being comfortable in their own skin along with the goal of remaining stylish and fashionable.   Aging gracefully is becoming in vogue. When you add in incredible confidence and bravado, which all these women have, who would not want to emulate this look…and support these brands.

CONCEALER THAT DOES MORE

BeautyJan CorrellComment

I have many products I love, and I look forward to sharing many of these with you.   I also want to hear back on your favorites!

To Conceal – keep from sight; hide. Highlight – a light spot or area.  Why yes, I do need to do this…don’t you?  Use a makeup concealer/highlighter and brightener that is! The one I use tends to be a bit pricey but when we are concealing; you do get what you pay for!

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Concealer is a great product!!  It hides, highlights and is easy to apply.  You do need to have a color match, so I recommend getting this done at a department store.  However, once you know your color, you can order from Amazon, for ease.

This article by Natalie Brown on Buzzfeed, 19 Useful Tips for People Who Suck at Concealer, provides some really helpful tips!  I actually changed my routine after reading the article.  I now put my foundation on first and then conceal/highlight over my foundation.  I also think #13 and #14 work very well depending on the look you are going for.

I found a YouTube video by Wayne Goss featuring the same YSL concealer/highlighter product.  Take a look!   It's very informative and he says you can get the same look with a less expensive brand.

Lastly, Julyne Derrick of About Style, states that the YSL Touche Eclat is the world’s Most Popular Brightener.  Evidently, this product does it all!   1 of these concealers is sold every 20 seconds around the world.

Enjoy and please share any concealer tips you have learned!
